Decorate Tree & Rooms - Don't forget to add some lights or miniature trees in childrens' rooms or guest rooms! I cannot tell you how the Holiday Spirit glows in the child's heart and guests always seem to compliment during their stay!Update Mailing List and Send out Cards no later than the 17th of December. Great time to organize your mailing list.
Begin Winter Pruning and burlap those delicate shrubs in the garden. Also, wrap those shrubs that deer tend to munch on. This distracts them to feed elsewhere.
Order Seeds for Spring - Get out those catalogs and put your order in. Things sell out quickly.
Create a Wrapping Station - Get organized and wrap as purchased items come through the door. This eliviates unnecessary last-minute stress on the Eve.
Ready Your Table Linens - Don't wait for the last !minute to find out your linens have stains. Prepare what your table setting will be and starch your linens early. Part of my decor for the holidays is actually setting a very decorative table early! Guests and people who stop by always give me rave reviews on the nicely set table!
Stock Car Emergency Kit - Especially you ladies and people who live in colder areas. Stock your kit with a large flash light with fresh batteries. Include bungee cords for overstocked trunk from shopping. Include jumper cables, compact shovel, ice scraper, flares, a blanket, clothing - extra mittens, warm sweaters, hats, etc. If you get snow in your area, include a bag of sand or cat litter to get traction if your wheels get stuck.
Avoid Crowds and Shop At Home - Shop online and avoid those heavy crowds. Be sure to visit those virtual malls for one-stop shop at ShabbyLaneShops.com, BeautifulShops.Com, MakeMinePink.Com, Etsey.Com, Ebay.Com, etc.. Many have hand made items too which are so much more personable for gift giving. Who says you have to tell the receiver of the gift that someone else made it?
